Yahoo Messenger and 0x80004005 error

All of us know that Yahoo Messenger is using JavaScript in order to run. Because we are installing many programs on our PCs it is possible that from time to time important java script modules to be altered. If you are trying to use Yahoo Messenger and you are getting errors regarding "jscript.dll" try to do the follows in order to solve the issue:

  1. Run command prompt as Administrator
  2. Change folder by issuing the following command :
    1.   For Windows Vista 32-bit: cd C:\windows\System32
    2.   For Windows Vista 64-bit: cd C:\windows\SysWow64
  3. Type the following command and hit Enter:  regsvr32 jscript.dll
  4. Type the following command and hit Enter:  regsvr32 vbscript.dll
  5. Run the Yahoo Messenger installer.
I hope this post will solve your problems.

Does Yahoo Messenger crash when you run video and voice?

Someone asked me what to do to solve the following issue. He tried to run video and voice setup for yahoo messenger 10 and the program crashed. He reinstalled the application many times with different accounts and with administrator privileges and it still didn't work.

My solution for him was:

"If you use Internet Explorer 8 as your browser, Messenger 10 will only work if you have installed Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash and Java. Messenger 9 or 8 work without these.

If Messenger 10 doesn't work properly, Download and SAVE the program directly from the File Hippo web site - it seems more successful than an update or install from Yahoo's site, or even choosing to install by Run. Install it only AFTER completely cleaning the registry of remnants.

Check by using 'Search for files...' in Programs, and delete any references to 'Yahoo! Messenger' that you find, except the profile folder - note the exclamation mark in the program title. Also, go to My Computer > Local Disk > Programs and delete any Messenger files there."
