While using any chat messaging application, especially Yahoo! Messenger, it is quite obvious that users may make several friends and add them and their friends’ list. When the list becomes overpopulated with the friends who users have lately added and are new to the user, it becomes difficult for them to identify them. Default configuration for Yahoo! Messenger is that all the contacts which are added to the friend’s list are displayed by either their nicknames or their first and last names. Under normal circumstances this configuration serves its purpose quite well however in some cases users do not remember the nicknames or first and last names of added friends but they can only remember Yahoo IDs to identify them. When this is the case users can configure Yahoo! Messenger to display Yahoo IDs of their added friends so that it becomes easy for them to identify. As a Windows 7 user who users Yahoo! Messenger if you want to configure your application accordingly you are required to follow the steps given below:
- Provide appropriate credentials in Yahoo! Messenger interface to logon to the application.
- Click on Messenger menu and click on Preferences option.
- On the opened box make sure that you are on Appearancecategory from the left pane.
- From the right pane under For each contact, show section choose Yahoo! ID radio button to select.
- Click on Ok button to save the changes.
